from Dave Hauser,
Project Director
I wanted to share the most recent quarterly operations report, which is also included in our most recent newsletter.
The Cityside landfill continues to operate five days per week. As of November 30, 2007, approximately 603,536 tons of municipal solid waste has been disposed of this year. The average daily disposal tonnage is approximately 2,360 tons.
The Countyside landfill continues to operate six days per week. As of November 30, 2007, approximately 1,044,145 tons of municipal solid waste has been disposed of this year. The average daily disposal tonnage is approximately 4,081 tons.
We have prepared a “Solid Waste Facility Permit” (SWFP) application and “Joint Technical Document” (JTD) for submission to the LEA and approval of a joint City/County landfill operation. This was directed by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in the Replacement Conditional Use Permit and the 1999 City of Los Angeles approvals. The joint operations have been contemplated in the EIRs' and land use approvals and will provide significant environmental benefits, including reduced equipment emissions, fugitive dust generation and improved storm water controls.
