The Sunshine Canyon Landfill is owned and operated by Browning-Ferris Industries (BFI) of California, and is considered by many environmentalists to be one of the best maintained, state-of-the-art facilities in the industry. BFI is owned by Allied Waste, Inc., and is a wholly owned subsidiary of parent company Republic Services Inc. Republic Services Inc. is one of the largest integrated waste management companies in the United States and for more than four decades has provided a wide range of residential and commercial waste disposal and recycling services to many local communities.
