Sunshine Canyon Landfill values its relationship with you and all community stakeholders. We encourage communications about municipal solid waste in various ways:

24-Hour Hotline: Questions or concerns? Call (800) 926-0607 or e-mail us at any time. You’ll get a personal response within one business day.

  • Communications: This Web site is dedicated to keeping you informed, and the Sunshine Canyon Landfill Quarterly Newsletter is mailed to the surrounding community and other interested parties.
  • Visits: Schedule a visit and learn more about our operations, safety, and efforts to protect the environment. Visitors have come from as near as our neighborhood and as far as Japan, Korea, China, and Mexico.
  • Presentations: Management from Sunshine Canyon Landfill is active with several community groups, including the Valley Industry and Commerce Association (VICA), the Greater San Fernando Valley Chamber of Commerce, and various neighborhood councils. We can speak to yours, too.
  • Meetings and Public Hearings: Many public hearings and meetings have taken place since 1988, enabling the community to help shape the design of the landfill and the conditions of approval. A Community Advisory Committee (CAC) continues to meet bi-monthly.
  • Charitable Donations and Community Contributions: Sunshine Canyon Landfill and its parent companies, Republic Services/Allied Waste have always extensively supported the communities in the San Fernando Valley. Sunshine Canyon Landfill has contributed more than $1 million to various local causes in the past five years, including the Hope Community Development, The Valley Family Center and the North Valley YMCA, and most recently $200,000 to the Providence Holy Cross Foundation for the completion of their trauma unit at the Holy Cross Medical Center in January 2010.
